This is my last post before I call it a night. I've had a few good comments on my blogs tonight and I also have received a few interesting emails. I was just sending a friend of mine an email trying to motivate her to write a book she has been almost writing for years. Get the key word there..."almost". So how many of you out there are "almost" going to change the way you have been doing business. Just like my friend, I know that I have talked to hundreds of Agents who are almost going to change their business model. After all if you aren't doing anything to change, do you expect to get a different result next year at this time. I can tell you out of the 20 or so people I talk to on a weekly basis maybe 1 actually takes any action. That amazes me. I have basically told people exactly how our company has been successful even in this terrible market and yet they still do nothing to change the way they do business.
So let's take a quick look at something. I was on a radio show yesterday with Barry and Barry on Real Estate Radio USA which you can listen to at: http://www.realestateradiousa.com/blog/2008/08/08/real-estate-radio-usa-episode-172/# . One of the many things we talked about is why are so many Agents afraid to use programs that are already successful. For instance, why would all of you not follow my eHomes Realty Network and 100MPH Marketing program when it has been proven successful for 6 years running now. Each year with more growth than the last year.
In the end, it doesn't really matter what you do, as long as you just do it. Are you afraid of failure? Yes, It's very true that you won't fail if you don't try. You have decided to get into the business of Real Estate. The way I see it, you have three choices. You can do things the old way, the new way (Internet) or you can do a combination of both. My best Agents do a combination of both. Regardless of what they are doing, they are doing it!
Maybe it's time to discuss the mirror with you. In my opinion, the mirror is the most powerul tool I have to succeed in business. When you look in the mirror, and look deep into your own eyes, you simply can't hide the truth. It's very easy for most of us to rationalize everything. However, when looking in the mirror you can't lie. It's impossible because you know the truth. I have been using the mirror for years and I believe I have accomplished most of what I have accomplished with my life beacuase of the mirror. Ok, over the past few years it has gotten pretty scary as I have grown old...but as long as I just keep it to my eyes I'm ok looking at myself! So my challenge to you is this. If you are not satisfied with your success as a Realtor or if you just want to do more business. Go stand in front of the mirror and ask yourself the following questions. Be sure to stare deep into your eyes.
1. Do I work full time? Am I working 40 or 50 hours per week? If not, there is a good chance you will never be as successful as you would like. This doesn't mean busy work, this means actual work!
2. Am I a good person? Did I do something to help someone else today? I'm a big believer that when you help others, others will help you. Everyone that I know and that I have read about will tell you that the more they helped others the more the universe helped them. Strange but very true!
3. Did I create a marketing plan to increase my business? If you don't have a plan you can't get where you want to go.
4. If you have written your daily goals....Did I accomplish my goals today? If not, then you need to evaluate why...it is possible that you make your goals to lofty. When making your goals, make sure you determine goals that will be challenging yet attainable.
If you just did this every day and held yourself accountable, you will begin to see changes in your business and your future. You have complete control over your business. No longer can you blame the market or anything else for that fact. It's time to take control of your business life, your personal life and your future. After all, if you don't care about yourself, why should anyone else care about you. In the end, you own your own business. You control your destiny. Yes, you can always be mediocre if you choose, but with all the tools and successful systems out there, why would you wnat to settle for mediocrity.
